We were asked to examine and replace the ornate dormers on this listed heritage building Sloane Street.
These listed copper dormers had to be replaced to match the originals and the request was for pre-patinated copper so that they would immediately blend with the design.
The cornice details on the windows are in fact hollow without any structure behind them and it takes a high degree of craftsmanship to recreate the copper design.
The whole building was being refurbished at this point and thus we worked hand in hand with the other craftsmen, but were tasks only with the copper work ourselves.
The architect requested that the tops of the windows be replace with leadwork (carried out by another company) but we would normally recommend finishing them with copper also.
